What’s the Science behind sound baths? Or is it all just woo-woo?

There is energy all around us (stay with me).

According to Albert Einstein

“Everything is energy and that’s all there is to it.”

How sound waves work

When your sound facilitator strikes an instrument, it vibrates, producing sound energy.

This energy transfers through the air, creating sound waves that move in all directions - and towards you, as you lie there enjoying your sound bath.

Your body responds

While you may hear the sounds, your amazing body responds to these vibrational inputs through multiple pathways.

Meet your vagus nerve

Parasympathetic Nervous System – a network of nerves that relaxes your body after periods of stress or danger

Vagus Nerve – a major component of the parasympathetic nervous system responsible for the “rest and digest” bodily responses. It starts in the brain and branches down the body, connecting gut and brain.

When stimulated, the vagus nerve move your body from a stressful state of “flight-or-fight” to a more relaxed stated of “rest-and-digest”

The all-important connection

Low-frequency sound vibrations from sound bath instruments stimulate the branches of the vagus nerve.

This engages the vagus nerve's calming effects, moving your body from "fight-or-flight" to "rest-and-digest" - helping regulate your stress responses

Not just woo-woo.

There is also the science.

Sound baths are a vibrational form of nervous system regulation. The relaxation response is real and grounded in physiology.

Experience it for yourself now
